How a Grand Father's Gift Inspired a Boy to be a Collector and the founder of Gemrockauctions.com

"Celebrating 5 years of the launch of his first online specialist auction site, Wayne, the founder of Gemrockauctions create successful auctions sites selling over 100,000 auctions items with sales of over 120,000 gems and its all online...."

BROADBEACH, AUSTRALIA, October 16, 2009 /Franchise PR News/ -- Wayne Sedawie didnt know at the time, that a simple gift from his grand father could change his whole life. In 1966 a parcel of 50 cent silver coins were given to him. worth 55 cents in silver cost at the time, and currently they are worth eight dollars. He kept these coins and still has them to this day. Who knew that this simple gift in 1966 was an instrument that made him into a collector of gemstone and coins.

Wayne and Estela Sedawie are the master minds behind creating their specialist auctions sites Coins-Auctioned.com Opalauctions.com and Gemrockauctions.com and share a 30-year old opal, gemstone and coin history. Together, they have a passion for collecting these beautiful collectible items, as well as other pieces.

Opalauctions was the first site created with its 5th anniversary on the 1st of September. This site encompass amazing pieces of Australiana, as it highlights of one of the worlds largest online opal collections. Opalauctions.com also features opals from Brazil, Ethiopia, Honduras, Mexico, Peru and Tanzania and a selection of opal jewelry, as well as online forums, newsletters and information on the latest developments in the gemstone industry.

My business has always been my passion and i have my grandfather to thank for it, Mr Sedawie said.

Two years ago gemrockauctions.com was founded it specializes in loose gemstones which complemented the opals on opalauctions.com, with items such as ruby, sapphire, emerald and mineral collections proving to be the most popular items on the site.

Last month they created a specialist coins site called coins-auctioned.com, which encompass gold coins, silver coins, Perth mint coins and ancient coins from Rome and Greece. Wayne now passes down his knowledge and influence to his sons who have themselves started collecting silver and gold coins.

The three websites:
www.Coins-Auctioned.com
www.GemrockAuctions.com
www.Opalauctions.com

The foundation of a collector and a balanced lifestyle is not to spend too much on items that depreciate like television, hi-fi, mobile phones etc, minimize retail purchases, says Wayne. Be smart and learn to appreciate the enjoyment of owning rare or quality collectible items that may become an heirloom.

About OpalAuctions

OpalAuctions is owned by Wayne and Estella Sedawie and has been established since 1992. They began opal mining when Wayne's brother, Paul, 15 years ago headed for the New South Wales gold mines, but due to all the roads in the desert becoming flooded, got stuck in Lightning Ridge, the home of black opal. He quickly fell in love with opals, which unsurprisingly spread to both Wayne and Estella. The whole family are now bona fide opal lovers, so much so that their nephew now mines opal. Thus you can obtain black opals direct from the source! The Sedawie's also have old friends mining boulder opal from Koroit to Quilpe. As a family, Wayne organises mining syndicates and controls the rough, Estela is in charge of their jewellery factory and the boys help out with all the computer work.
