As Owner, Managing Director and General Manager of Austart Homes Cairns Pty. Ltd., as well as throughout his incredible 28 year career, Mr. Hartwig has consistently demonstrated the passion, vision and dedication necessary to be among the best.
Austart Homes Cairns is involved in the building of new homes in the far north section of Queensland. The business is part of the Austart Homes franchise which began in 2002. They have three ranges of homes for clients to choose from, which are the Fitzroy, the Premier Plus and the Sovereign. Every home in each range is constructed to the same high standard of construction that Austart Homes is renowned for, it is only the level of finishes and design technique which makes each range different.
Grant is the proprietor of Austart Homes Cairns. He began his building career in 1981 in North East Victoria completing an apprenticeship in Carpentry & Joinery through the Master Builders Association of Victoria. Grant's dedication to the building trade and pride of workmanship was evident when he was awarded the coveted Apprentice of the Year Award in his second year and was also runner up in his final year, gaining extensive experience in new home construction, home extension and commercial construction. For the next 16 years Grant was the Construction Manager of large commercial projects, in charge of building hospitals, schools and supermarkets throughout regional Victoria.
Grant's desire to return to the more exacting and detailed work of new building brought him and his family to Cairns in 2000. He was employed by Newstart Homes NQ Pty Ltd initially as a building supervisor, then estimator and later promoted to Cairns area manager. In 2003, the opportunity to purchase the Austart Homes Cairns franchise presented itself and Grant grabbed it, working diligently running the company ever since. He is actively involved in managing sales, finances, advertising, marketing and estimations for the franchise, as well as being in charge of displaying the properties.
